Vintage furniture has a distinct value due to its age, the fact that it was built by a certain furniture maker, or the fact that no other exact or comparable specimens exist. Antique furniture, on the other hand, is most highly prized for its uniqueness; unusual and uncommon antique items might be worth a lot more to a collector. It’s just a question of scarcity and demand…as long as a buyer is prepared to pay whatever the vendor asks for such an item, it will be sold…simple as that!
This is one of the reasons why skilled collectors have long wanted antiques. They understand that the antiques they own will be worth far more in the future than the sum they paid for them. They purchase antique furniture as an investment as well as for the aesthetic value of the items.
