How do you make your GIFs?

There are numerous platforms to make making your GIFs very simple. A short Google search will show you many options of both free and paid services, so it’s about what’s right for your process.

The most important thing to be aware of when designing your GIF stickers is that to be considered a GIF label (and accessible on IG), it must contain at minimum 20 percent of the design must be transparent within the first frame GIF. Giphy provides intricate details of Gif guidelines for stickers here.

Here are some ways to create GIF stickers:

  1. Canva

Canva is an awesome tool to meet all your social media requirements. They have a basic free version, but the options are extended if you purchase a subscription (not that you require anything special to make the custom GIFs).

Canva offers the option to export the page as a GIF. It can take the different pages and convert them into an animated. The only issue is you can’t export the GIF with transparent backgrounds, which means Giphy won’t be able to recognize it as a sticker, and it won’t be displayed in the Instagram search results.

You can always export your photos in different PNG images with transparent backgrounds. You can then choose another platform to convert it into a .gif file.

Exporting transparent backgrounds using a transparent background Canva is available only for paying customers. However, here’s an alternative:

Create a new project using Canva

  • Imagine every page like the following one in the GIF
  • Select a background color that does not appear in your GIF
  • Export the files
  • Transfer the file to
  • It is possible to substitute “color” with transparency
  • Enter the hex number of the color you want to use as your background, and it will remove the stain.

This method might not be the best way to remove any background colors. However, it will do the job.

  1. EZGIF

I mentioned EZGIF in the previous paragraph since I use it in conjunction with the other platform. This is a fantastic alternative for multiple images into GIFs.

For More:

Their design tools are small, and I’d recommend creating your graphics on a different device and using this to export the image as a .gif.

I’ve also noticed the GIFs appear blurry (especially when I’m trying to get rid of the background).

In the end, GIFs aren’t normally super quality, so that they will suffice.

  1. Procreate

Procreate is an editing application for iPads and iPhones. It’s just $9.99 and lets you create custom stickers and export them with transparent backgrounds.

This app is a great method of creating illustrations and includes many built-in tools to help you design your graphics.

  1. Photoshop

If you’re a little more design background, Photoshop will certainly provide you with the best choices for making your GIF. To use Photoshop, it is necessary to be a subscriber of Adobe.

Here’s a thorough explanation of converting the Photoshop design into a GIF.

I love using Canva to create easy images and export using transparent backgrounds. Then, transfer the PNGs to Photoshop, following the instructions in the link above.

Giphy will not work to create GIF stickers (only GIFs)

If you’re looking to make some GIFs instead of labels, Giphy is a good alternative, but the color and text are limited to the preset available. There’s currently no method to convert the GIF into an image that can be used as a sticker (transparent background) using Giphy.

If you use “create mode” or “create mode” on Giphy, using transparent PNGs for your background Giphy creates black environments. This means that it will not be considered an image that is a sticker, as we require.

It is important to ensure that each gif you create features an unnatural grey checkerboard background. This means that the experience is transparent and meets the criteria to be accessible on Insta.

Personalized GIF to inspire you

When designing your GIF stickers, consider the types of stickers you already use and what kind of content you’re promoting through the site.

For instance, Sked Social often posts about new blog posts on Instagram, and I usually need a “Link in Bio,” Swipe Up,” or “New Blog” GIF to add to our Stories. However, none of the GIFs posted on the platform are in line with our color scheme and themes. This is an excellent opportunity to create custom ones.

Here are some simple ideas to get your creativity flowing to make one of your GIFs.

It’s a simple idea. A simple thing such as flashing your logo’s logo with different colors of your brand can be a fantastic way to spice up an ordinary graphic.

If your mascot is such as our adorable quokka, bring some motion to it and make it the form of a GIF sticker.

I’m not an animation expert, but I created this animated Quirky by using our quokka and adding circles on the eyes to make it appear like he’s blinking.

“Link to Bio”

This is a great easy solution for bloggers, particularly those trying to build a following on social media and don’t have access “swipe upwards” feature (you can access this once the account has been verified when you have at least 10,000 fans).

created a brand-new design using Canva that had three different pages.  altered these words into one of our company colors, and on every page, I put the same comments on each page in another color.

I downloaded three PNGs with transparent backgrounds and then converted them into .gif in Photoshop.

“Swipe up”

If you’re verified and have 10,000 people following you, you likely use the swipe-up feature to send your followers to different websites. With a customized Swipe upwards GIF sticker, you can add some extra character.

“New post”

Another great option is for social media users, bloggers, or in general. It can point users to a brand new blog post or redirect users to your feed so that they can view the latest social media posts.

This time I created it using Canva. I then exported PNGs with transparent backgrounds and utilized Photoshop to develop them into a GIF.

A countdown that matches your brand colors

Numbers are perfect for lists and product launches. It’s as simple as flashing 3 2 1, 1 in your company’s colors.

The shapes you can choose from are based on your company’s colors

Shapes are incredibly simple to design in your company’s colors with tools such as Canva and Photoshop. It’s a great method of bringing a bit of motion to your Story.

Here’s a design I created using some images are used for social media and marketing. It’s just two layers that move between them and rotate the picture slightly on each.
