Equal Pay – For and Against (Cricket Australia) (Smriti Mandhana)

“We must recognise that the income we receive comes from men’s cricket. I’ll be the first to suggest that we need the same thing when women’s cricket begins making money. But we can’t disclose that right now” Smriti Mandhana told reporters at a 2020 promotional event.

“I don’t think any of the teammates are thinking about the divide since the only thing on their minds right now is winning matches for India, bringing in crowds, and making money. That is what we are striving towards, and if that occurs, everything else will fall into place”, She stated.

The Australian cricket board promised equal remuneration for the women’s team after the 2020 T20 World Cup, and compensated the women’s squad 600,000 USD when they won the final to compensate for the gap in ICC prize money.

“We want to continue our commitment to equality by guaranteeing that any prize money earned by the Australian women’s squad in the T20 World Cup is the same as what is available in the event for men. This will involve matching the prize money for the final, semi-finals, or group stage, among other things”, In 2019, CA CEO Kevin Roberts stated.
